The oldest part of the complex, originally El Palacio de la Equitativa, dates from 1887. The spectacular rotunda roundabout, topped with a copper dome, stands on the corner of Calle de Sevilla and Calle de Alcalá. Equally impressive is the nearby facade of the main office of the Banco Hispano Americano, whose construction began in 1902, and which today forms the main entrance to the luxury shops of the Canalejas Gallery.
